Jubal starts AIT

This morning I got up dark and early to drive Jubal into the city to begin his AIT journey (Advanced Individual Training). Today, he's catching a plane somewhere, and eventually finding his way to Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. I'm hoping the Army doesn't fly him across the country to get him to a location about a 5-6 hour drive from our house. He did Basic Training last summer, and one of the guys in his unit flew from Washington D.C. to (if I'm remembering correctly) Denver and a few more airports before making it Columbia, South Carolina (About two days hanging out in airports instead of a seven-hour drive? Doesn't make sense, but it's the Army.) It's been a busy several months for him. Finishing high school plus an IT program in Stillwater, drilling once a month, on top of family and church obligations. Then this month graduating from both high school and from the IT program. helping me out in the Baccalaureate service, and now beginning this journey. I...

Why the Title?

Several months ago, I wrote a personal "rant" on my other blogsite called "Baptist in a Pentecostal Wilderness." It was a rambling mess. Partially because of that, I didn't care to share it on the normal social media sites (X, Facebook, LinkedIn), but the post is still one my my 10 most-viewed posts on the site (and top 3 for several months, meaning it was shared at the bottom of every post). It's also the only post that has received a comment from a reader, and he resonated with my concerns (meaning he read it!). Other than the one comment, I don't totally know why it was a relatively popular post. I'd like to think, like my one commenter, that people resonated with either the title or the personal info. Right now, one of my great frustrations is living in a "Bible belt" area where (it seems like) most churchgoers are Pentecostal (Assembly of God, Oneness Pentecostal, snake-handlers; you know, the normal variety), and my theological and r...

First post on new blogsite

This new blogsite is a simple attempt to separate personal stuff from my other blogsite. Devotionals, sermons, and other Biblical research will be on the "Daily Devotional" site. I don't post there everyday, but normally a few times per week. This site will include responses, opinions, rants, personal struggles, and the like. Unlike the other site, I'm not planning to do much advertising. Anyone can read them though. I'm not planning to remove the personal stuff already on my other blogsite, but I may at some point in the future. Only if it seems like the right thing to do.
