Random Ramblings for 6/4
It doesn't look like we'll get to see Jubal at all this summer. Even if we travel up there (which isn't far from my parents, so we probably will), he won't be allowed off the base and getting on base will most likely be incredibly hard. Looks like it's nothing but letters. Hoping to visit my parents in July, if we can get a good time scheduled with them to visit.

Anyway, today is day 3 of VBS. We're doing it, special events are hard to deal with in this church due to competing narcissistic personalities. We only have 8 children, but they've all been there both days so far. Not really sure if a full week of events is worth it for 8 kids. As the old saying goes: "If ONE salvation comes out of it..." -- It's funny that Christians who hate pragmatism accept this phrase as reason to do all kinds of stuff. Then fully forgiven or forgotten if zero salvations come out of it.
Probably the roughest thing I've dealt with as pastor has been navigating through multiple narcissistic personalities. On top of that, these personalities have suffered through recent deaths and serious hospitalizations of loved ones. Two of them in particular have grandchildren that live with them, and each of them expect perfection from them. When they fail to be perfect, the world falls apart. They've both been bothering the rest of the congregation because their respective grandkids were caught lying. -- Granted, one of the lies was far more consequential than the other, but I'm far from the only one losing my patience. It's like no one else has problems, or our problems don't count.
If anyone reads these, you might think I'm narcissist. It's possible, but the reason I have these blogposts is to vent here rather than elsewhere.

Currently for breakfast, I make at least one egg (with black coffee of course). Generally fried in olive oil with a vegetable or fruit. I'll use whatever we have on hand (tomatoes, mushrooms, asparagus, bell pepper, onion, sometimes a mixture), but my preference is avocado. If avocado is on hand, one fried egg with avocado. Bacon, sausage, ham, steak, etc. are great if they're on hand (but not too much). Also, orange, banana, strawberry slices are welcomed.
I do not like including any bread with that because I already eat too much bread. Carbs from fruit are fine, but I'd rather not have bread at that time.
Also, one of the key ingredients is me starting the fire (gas stove), heating up the skillet and oil, and cooking the stuff I'm eating. If I'm eating fresh fruit like bananas or oranges, I still prefer to cook something like that. It's an honest key ingredient to breakfast for me, and helps me get through the day. In case you're wondering, I'm happy to cook that for others in the family, and occasionally do. But I often do this before others get up.
I appreciate good cooks willing to cook for me, but I don't like that messing with this habit.
